Pare Mountains

Join Wilson Mavura, a professional tour guide and himself from the Pare Mountains will lead you through the rich green vegetation and local villages of the Pare Mountains region. He is the grandson of the famous chief Mavura, the rainmaker. “Rainmaking was a service provided through propitiation of tutelary and supreme spirits” (Gloria Waite 2002: Public Health in Pre-colonial East-Central Africa).

This is what you can experience

Wilson, born and raised in the Pare Mountains will welcome you to his home, providing information about past and present life of the Pare people and his family roots, dating from 1670. Through your tour guide’s extensive knowledge about the area and its people you will learn about local plants and wildlife in addition to the history of the famous Pare people.  You will be given the opportunity to chat with the local people, while enjoying a homemade typical Pare lunch, and forget the stress of busy city-life.“Study natures, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.”
